Viola

The viola’s warm, mellow voice is at the heart of ensemble music, and we help students at The Bach Academy explore its lyrical and expressive character. Instruction emphasizes a balanced approach to bow technique, left-hand facility, and ear training for intonation. Students begin with simple, songlike pieces and progress to classical repertoire that stretches their expressive and technical abilities. We encourage our violists to delight in the instrument’s unique timbre and to discover the depth of music written for it throughout the centuries.
